It depends. All of our oil filter wrenches except the universal wrenches can be used to tighten a new oil filter onto your vehicle. However, be VERY careful to not over-tighten your new filter. A little more than hand tight is good, unless you have a torque wrench and can tighten to exactly the manufacturer specs.
Most filters we run across recommend tightening your filter to 18ft lbs or 25 newton metres. Most manufacturers will print the recommended torque settings on the filter, so check the new filter and/or the packaging to find the recommended settings. Remember to add a little bead of oil around the gasket when you install your new filter to keep it from binding up when you remove it the next time.
If you have a problem with any of your Motivx Tools products within the first year of ownership we will repair or replace it at no cost to you. For more details, see our full warranty information here.

This varies widely. Two aftermarket filters for the same car can can have drastically different flutes and outside diameters. If you contact us and tell us the year, make and model of your car, as well as the brand of the aftermarket oil filter you are using, we can usually find out exactly what wrench you need. In all other cases, one of our universal oil filter wrenches usually gets the job done just fine.
